While I have never read Rumer Godden’s book, A House with Four Rooms, and am indeed not familiar with her body of work, I have nevertheless always been a fan of this passage from that book: “There is an Indian proverb or axiom that says that everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual.
