When it comes to images and videos, I’m a bit of a pack rat. Actually, that’s putting it very mildly. I’ll just come out and say it: I’m a digital hoarder. It’s a bit of a problem, but I manage to keep it under control, and there are worse habits to have. At any rate, some time ago, I began putting my extensive collection to good use by creating a series of absurd, bizarre comics. In retrospect, I think I can say my biggest influence in this particular series was Liquid Television, an MTV show from the 1990’s which showcased avant-garde animation and short films. In particular, there was a recurring feature called PsychoGrams, which revolved around field reports from a mysterious secret agent character, interspersed with postcards.
Of all my old material, in some way, I feel the best about these. I wish I’d kept up with them, I could have developed a following. I gave up on things too easily in those days.
